Review HAM RADIO 2023

HAM RADIO 2023 shows more and more a shift to Friday/Saturday every year. Or in other words: Those who want personal consultants come on Sunday.

So we could notice a lively attendance on Friday and Saturday – especially for the apero at 11 am, while it was rather quiet on Sunday. The information booths of Swiss-ARTG and HB9FTS about AREDN and HAMNET were visited very often and so there was always something going on.

From the big radio manufacturers only ICOM, Hilberling and Elecraft were present. The Elecraft booth, this year with Carine and Réne together with Eric Swartz, WA6HHQ, President of Elecraft, was almost permanently besieged on Friday/Saturday. A great success! Remarkable was also the booth of Aaronia AG with their spectrum analyzers, which displayed the entire radio spectrum as a waterfall on a huge screen installation. Very impressive!

Unfortunately, the other big manufacturers as well as their representatives were conspicuous by their absence!

The flea market is still attractive. You can still find the dealers who supply you with plugs, switches and cables, but they are getting rarer. Nevertheless, a tour is worthwhile on Fridays and Saturdays.

New amateur radio ordinance for Germany

One day before the fair the minister Dr. Volker Wissing signed the new amateur radio regulation. From June 21, 2024, there will be a new entry-level license N in Germany, which will allow operation on 2m, 70cm and 10m. Details can be found at the DARC.

Board of the DARC join the USKA

Last but not least, at HAM RADIO all 4 board members joined USKA as individual members. The USKA welcomes them!
