New USKA BBB/Moodle server in operation -

In two load tests that took place in December, the 200 moderators registered on our BBB server were able to test the performance of the new server for themselves. The new server passed the tests and was put into operation today, Monday 3 January 2022.

All links and data have been copied from the previous server to the new one. Therefore, nothing has to be changed in existing applications.

Many thanks to our IT team for the professional migration of this important infrastructure for USKA members.

The exchange of experiences regarding the handling of BBB, Moodle and Wiki will continue to take place in the HamGroup “BBB-Moodle-Wiki“.

The configuration of the new server:

Thomas Krenn RI1208+ Server, 2U
Intel Xeon Gold 6208U (2.9GHz, 16 Core)
96GB RAM
4×1.92TB SSD (Samsung) in RAID-10 configuration
RAID-Controller MegaRAID 9361-8i SAS3 8x with Cache Vault Module (battery buffered)
2 Power Supplies (redundant)

With this configuration, our Switzerland-stationed USKA BBB server will be able to serve over a hundred simultaneous videoconference participants in good service quality.
