HamWebinar “Hunting for DXCC points – working DX successfully”

Date: December 13, 2023 20:00

The presentation by Wolfgang Sidler HB9RYZ shows how DX expeditions can be worked successfully. Which tools and information does the OM use to find the current DX expeditions and how does LOTW work to get the DXCC points for the various ARRL diplomas.

I have earned over 2,065 DXCC points within 7 years since March 2016 – in record time (Turbo DXn). In comparison, it took Jürg HB9BIN 39 years to earn 3,000 DXCC points. The first goal was to achieve the DXCC diploma (100 countries per band) for each band (6m, 10m, 12m, 15m, 17m, 20m, 30m, 40m, 80m and 160m) – I already had the so-called 5-band DXCC diploma after 5 years in March 2021 – i.e. after exactly 5 years. I also achieved the coveted DXCC Challenge Diploma (1,000 DXCC points) in March 2021 after 5 years. The more DXCC points you have, the “thinner” the air becomes and the harder it is to collect more DXCC points. The hunt for DXCC points has become a “drug” and I look for every opportunity to get a new point.

The DXCC points on satellite (139) and 60m are unfortunately not valid for the challenge points.

The most difficult bands for the DXCC (100 countries) were 6m and 160m.
